About
I am a minister in the Uniting Church of Australia and currently work as Presbytery Minister Pastoral in the Presbytery of Port Phillip East. I completed my theological studies in the Netherlands (BA, Mtheol). For over thirty years I have served congregations in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Australia. My passions in Ministry have been the leading of worship, the interpretation of biblical texts, story telling, pastoral care and spiritual direction, nurturing faith in others through teaching, preaching, and caring. Meditation, mindfulness exercises and prayer are important parts of my daily spiritual practice. I am a qualified strategic psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist. I also love using my therapeutic skillset to support people looking for healing and re-orientation towards more helpful ways of ‘doing life’ in their context.
Publications
Books
I published several books based on worship series I conducted in the Churches I served over the years as well as liturgical material, a prayer resource and a cookery book.
Articles
I regularly contribute to the main ecumenical resource for worship preparation in Churches in the Netherlands; ‘De Eerste Dag’.
Liturgical Resources
I usually write my own liturgies for Sunday Worship. I have written hymns, calls to worship, prayers and other material for use in worship.
Hypnotherapy
I am a qualified strategic psychotherapist and hypnotherapist working mostly with theories developed by Dr Milton Erickson, Dr Michael Yapko, Bill O’Hanlon, and have been deeply influenced by modern Gestalt therapy. Client centeredness, utilisation, the use of metaphor and story, deep listening, creating space for change are some of the key themes that direct my practice. Having been cured from Fibromyalgia myself in 2011 through hypnosis and having experienced the transformational change strategic psychotherapy and hypnosis can bring I particularly like to work with people suffering from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, Anxiety, and Insomnia. I have also been successful helping people with addictions, phobias and motor tics.
My work as a therapist is deeply influenced and informed by my faith and the conviction that people can heal and change.
